GRAND MARNIER BOOZY BROWNIES: NOT JUST ORANGE FLAVORED LIQUEUR
What’s so special about Grand Marnier? Created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lpoostolle, Grand Marnier is a blend of Cognac Brandy distilled with bitter orange and sugar giving it a sweet and tarte taste. What really sets it apart is the alcohol content. While other liqueurs contain about 25% alcohol, 40 proof, Grand Marnier boasts 40% alcohol, 80 proof much the same as spirits such as vodka, gin and rum.
Sipping Grand Marnier from a snifter or serving it neat in a glass is a sophisticated way to enjoy the drink yet, recipes and vintage cocktails are another way to harness its splendor. The liqueur’s high alcohol content makes it a natural to light up and flambe classic dishes such as Crêpes Suzette. And, the strong tang of bitter citrus lends perfectly to kicking-up any orange chicken recipe. New and Retro Cocktails alike such as a Side Car, Viper, Between the Sheets, Margarita and Cosmopolitan would not be the same without Grand Marnier.
At Small Batch we’ve found the best way to blend the magnificent flavor of Grand Marnier into our chocolaty brownies, taking something timeless and twisting it into something classically new.
